Minnesota Vikings Social Justice Committee Announces Support of the Page Amendment
The Page Amendment Will Bring Quality Education to All Minnesota Children
EAGAN, Minn. – The Minnesota Vikings Social Justice Committee has announced its support of the Page Amendment to bring a quality education to all Minnesota children, regardless of race or socioeconomic status. The Page Amendment is an effort to elevate the standard of education from adequate to quality through a constitutional amendment.
Composed of players, coaches, owners, and staff, the Vikings Social Justice Committee believes in the ultimate goal of the Page Amendment to ensure a quality education for all Minnesota students.
“Education is one of the most important ways we can improve socioeconomic disparities and tackle the opportunity gap in Minnesota,” said Brett Taber, Vice President of Social Impact for the Minnesota Vikings. “The Page Amendment, led by Vikings Legend Alan Page, will create a constitutional right to a quality education, something everyone in Minnesota deserves. We are proud to support this effort to eliminate serious education disparities in Minnesota.”
The Page Amendment is named for Alan Page, a former Minnesota Viking Hall of Fame football player and retired Minnesota State Supreme Court Justice. In 2019, Page drafted the Page Amendment and started the effort to pass it as a constitutional amendment that is supported by 80 percent of Minnesotans.
“Having been involved in education on both sides of the bench, I believe a quality education is without question the most powerful tool we have to break the cycle of poverty and create a society in which everyone can fully participate,” said Alan Page. “The Page Amendment can ensure that each Minnesota child is given the right and the opportunity to succeed.”
Sixty-eight percent of Minnesota’s low-income students can’t read at grade level and only 25 percent of Black, Indigenous and Hispanic students in Minnesota are prepared for college.
“We are thrilled to have the support of the Minnesota Vikings Social Justice Committee in our work to pass the Page Amendment and bring a quality education to all Minnesota children, regardless of race or socioeconomic status,” said Nevada Littlewolf, Executive Director of Our Children, an organization running the Page Amendment campaign effort. “Together with the Vikings and our other Page Partners we will tackle education gaps and make quality public education a civil right for all Minnesota children.”

The Page Amendment is a proposed change to Minnesota’s state constitution that would deem access to quality public education a fundamental right to all children. It is designed to be a catalyst for much-needed change in Minnesota to improve our persistent education gaps. State lawmakers in both the House and Senate must first pass the amendment before it is added as a statewide November ballot.
Our Children MN is an organization working to inform Minnesotans of the state’s education gaps and to build support to pass the Page Amendment. Learn more about the Page Amendment at www.pageamendment.com.
