This week’s Supporter Spotlight is Page Amendment Chief Author, Representative Hodan Hassan! Representative Hassan is currently serving her second term in the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing a central portion of Minneapolis including the Philips and Whittier neighborhoods, and roughly half of Lake Street. She is the Vice Chair of the People of Color and Indigenous Caucus and the Education Policy Committee where she has led on several education initiatives including recruiting and retaining more teachers of color in Minnesota classrooms via the Teachers of Color and Indigenous Teachers Act.
“I support the Page Amendment because a quality education is a right for every child, and we must do everything we can to fulfill this right. Unfortunately, we have failed to provide this right to every child, particularly when it comes to our Black, Latino, American Indian, and immigrant children. The Page Amendment promises a brighter future for the children we have left behind for generations, and it is our duty to make that promise a reality.”
